UAP holds webinar on Rohingyas
The Department of Law and Human Rights in collaboration with the Institute of Energy, Environment, Research and Development of the University of Asia Pacific organised a live webinar jointly on the ‘Status of Involuntarily Displaced Persons in International Law: A Case Study on Rohingya in Bangladesh’.
Four researchers Chowdhury Ishrak Ahmed Siddiky, associate professor, Md Abdur Rahim, Md Lokman Hussain and Md Saleh Akram, assistant professors of the Department of Law and Human Rights conducted a research on the topic with the funding of the IEERD.
On behalf of the researchers Md Abdur Rahim, assistant professor presented the report. UAP acting vice-chancellor MR Kabir was present there as the chief guest of the programme on Monday.
Mizanur Rahman, faculty of law, University of Dhaka and former chairman, National Human Rights Commission, Bangladesh was present there as chief discussant.
Other discussants were the UAP treasurer, retired air commodore Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, University of Chittagong Research and Publication Cell Director Abdullah Al Faruque, and assistant professor Shuvro Prosun Sarker of Department of Law, Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur, India.
Among others, Mohammed Alauddin, former senior vice chairperson of the UAP Board of Trustees, IEERD director M Mizanur Rahman, faculty members and students of department of law and human rights were present there as the key participants.
Chowdhury Ishrak Ahmed Siddiky acted as the moderator and Md Asaduzzaman, head of the Law department gave the vote of thanks to all.
