Seminar Series (Webinar) on “Languages Used in the Legal Education in Bangladesh: A Call for Reform”

 

The Research Committee of Department of Law and Human Rights, University of Asia Pacific organized a webinar titled “Languages Used in the Legal Education in Bangladesh: A Call for Reform.” on 29 June 2022 on Google meet platform. Alida Binte Saqi, Lecturer, Department of Law & Human Rights, University of Asia Pacific, Bangladesh presented her working paper at that said occasion. The seminar series is one the regular events of Department of L&HR, UAP. On that event, usually the faculties of L&HR, UAP present their current research paper in the presence of an expert and the audience to get the fruitful feedback.

Professor Dr. Mizanur Rahman, Department of Law, University of Dhaka, Director, BILIA, Former Chairman, and National Human Rights Commission was presented as a key discussant to that auspicious occasion. Additionally, all the faculties of the Department of L&HR were also presented on that occasion.

At first, Alida Binte Saqi presented her paper profligately. She discussed the present practices of languages used in the legal education in Bangladesh. She also highlighted some loopholes of existing systems and also suggests some probable solution.  Then, Professor Dr. Mizanur Rahman provided his valuable comments and suggestions on Ms. Alida’s presentation. He highlighted some positive sides of the topic and deficient of the paper. Thereafter, there was a question answer session. Audience directly put question to the presenter presenter and key discussant Professor Dr. Mizanur Rahman. They answer to the question accordingly. At the end of the session, anchor of the program Nazia Wahab, Assistant Professor thanked to all and concluded the program.
