The Research Committee of Department of Law and Human Rights, University of Asia Pacific organized a webinar titled “Weapons of Modern Warfare: A Possible Regulatory Mechanism for the Autonomous Weapons System” on 14 January, 2021 though Google meet.  The seminar series is one the regular events of Department of L&HR, UAP. On that event, usually the faculties of L&HR, UAP present their current research paper in the presence of an expert and the audience to get the fruitful feedback.

Dr. Mizanur Rahman, Professor, Faculty of  Law, University of Dhaka Former Chairman National Human Rights Commission, Bangladesh was presented as an expert to that auspicious occasion. Additionally, Honorable member of Board of Trustees (BOT), Muhammed Alauddin, Phd, Air Commodore Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury (Retd),Treasurer, UAP, Professor Dr. Muhammad Mizanur Rahaman and Director IEERD, UAP, Mr. Md. Asaduzzaman, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Law & Human Rights , Dr. Chowdhury Ishrak Ahmed Siddiky, Associate Professor & Coordinator, LL.M. Programs, all the faculties of L&HR, interested students and faculties from different departments were presented at that occasion.

At first, Ms. Alida Binte Saqi , Lecturer, UAP presented her paper and discussed on Autonomous Weapons System (AWS), AWS and War, Collateral Damage and regulatory matters on it. She said she is currently working on the issue and wants valuable suggestions from the experts and the audience. Therefore, Professor Dr. Mizanur Rahman, DU expressed his positive views and provided some valuable suggestions on it. He said, there is no hard and fast rule for war. Subsequently, Muhammed Alauddin sir and Air Commodore Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury (Retd), sir highlighted their respective views on that paper. Both of them said the paper is contemporary and interesting.

Finally, there was a question answering session where audience directly put questions to the Ms. Alida Binte Saqi and she tried to give the answer accordingly. Thereafter, the anchor of the program Nazia Wahab,Assistant Professor thanked to all and concluded the program.
