A seminar on “Balancing Judicial Independence and Accountability: Challenges in Bangladesh.”

𝗨𝗔𝗣 𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗻 𝗝𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆

The Department of Law and Human Rights at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) held a research seminar on April 29, 2025, at 11:30 AM in the UAP Auditorium.

The seminar focused on judicial independence and accountability in Bangladesh, bringing together academics, legal experts, and university officials.

Mr. Mohammad Asaduzzaman, Associate Professor and Head of the Department, presented a research paper titled “Balancing Judicial Independence and Accountability: Challenges in Bangladesh.” His presentation highlighted key issues in the country’s judicial system.

Mr. Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury (Retired), Chairman of the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances, attended as the Chief Guest. He praised the department’s efforts to promote meaningful discussion and emphasized the need for reforms to ensure both independence and transparency in the judiciary. 

 Several distinguished guests attended, including Md. Sazzad Hussain, Member of the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances; Architect Mahbuba Haque, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees; Prof. Dr. Qumrul Ahsan, Vice Chancellor; Dr. M. Alauddin and Mr. Monzoor Ahmed Chowdhury, both Board of Trustees members; and Prof. Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan, Advisor to the Vice Chancellor and Dean of the School of Pharmacy.

Faculty members and students from the Department of Law and Human Rights actively participated, making the seminar lively and engaging through an interactive question-and-answer session.

The event reaffirmed UAP’s commitment to academic excellence and underscored the university’s strong focus on addressing important national issues.
